- Whitebark Pine Release (Thin and Pile) This project will increase the growth and vigor of whitebark pine, reduce the risk of fire induced mortality, and facilitate the natural regeneration of this species. The planned treatments include Item 1 -The cutting of all sub-alpine fir and Lodgepole pine less than 14 inches diameter at breast height (DBH). Handpile activity generated slash less than six inches diameter, and covering piles with paper. Item 2 - The girdling and pruning of all sub-alpine fir and Lodgepole pine between 14 inches DBH and 20 inches DBH. Handpile activity generated slash less than six inches diameter, and covering piles with paper. These treatments are thoroughly described in the technical specifications section of this document.
