- The Naval Medical Logistics Command intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 8), with Sirona Dental Systems, 4835 Sirona Drive, Suite 100, Charlotte NC 28273, as the only source that can provide Dental Digital Impression Units under VA Schedule # V797P-3170M. Sirona is the only vendor on the Federal Supply Schedule that can offer a unit that allows the patient's mouth to be scanned directly, instead of requiring a physical impression to be taken and then digitally scanned in an acquisition unit. If a unit were acquired that requires a physical impression, dental impressions would have to be taken, cured, and then scanned and digitized before being sent to a milling unit to create the dental prosthetic. This adds hours to a procedure and requires a patient to return on a separate occasion for treatment. Being able to digitally scan directly from a patient's mouth allows the entire procedure to be completed in a single visit. Sirona is the only vendor that can meet the minimum requirements of the government. The open market items intended to be purchased are as follows: Item # 6149566 - CEREC 3D On-Site Training, 6149590 - CEREC Blocs Starter Sets, 88888888 - OptiSpray 50 ML 12 Pack (50 Nozzles), 6284074 - Computer inEos Blue, 6042548 - Monitor, 6149640 - inLab inEos On-Site Training, 6149608 - inCoris Starter Blocks Set, 6133917HS - inFire HCspeed Sintering Oven, 88888888 - OptiSpray 200 ML 12 Pack (50 Nozzles). This acquisition is being conducted under FAR 8.404. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 423450. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice will need to submit technical data sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product. All capability statements received within 7 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Capability statements shall be submitted by email only as a MS Word or Adobe PDF attachment to Arjun Bhalla at arjun.bhalla@med.navy.mil. Statements are due by COB July 25, 2011.
