Description
The Department of the Air Force, Electronic Systems Center, Space C2 and Surveillance Division, Space Control Sensors Branch is conducting market research to identify sources capable of performing the sustainment and modernization of ground-based, radar and optical sensor systems under Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) responsibility. The objectives are to optimize lifecycle cost management for missile warning, missile defense, and space surveillance sensors. The sensor systems currently include the following ground based radars and optical systems:.Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) radars at Thule Air Base (AB), Greenland; Clear Air Force Base (AFB), Alaska; and Fylingdales, United Kingdom..PAVE Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) radars at Cape Cod Air Force Station (AFS), Massachusetts; Beale Air Force Base (AFB), California; and a system in cold storage at Robins AFB, Georgia..Phased array radar at Eglin AFB, Florida..Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS) radar at Cavalier Air Force Station (AFS), North Dakota..Ground-based Electro-Optical Deep Space Surveillance (GEODSS) system at Socorro, New Mexico; Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territories; Maui, Hawaii; and Edwards AFB, California..Globus II (HAVE STARE) radar at Vardo, Norway..Moron Optical Surveillance System (MOSS) Moron AB, Spain..Air Force Space Surveillance System Very High Frequency (VHF) Fence (AFSSS VHF Fence) and Distributed Space Command and Control - Dahlgren (DSC2-D) consisting of three transmitter sites, six receiver sites and the operational command and control center at Dahlgren, Virginia. Other existing sensors and locations may be added or deleted from the contractor's sustainment responsibility over time as mission needs dictate. The Government is also evaluating whether it would be appropriate to include level 1 Operation and Maintenance (O&M) in this effort.
