Description
2011 FALL PLANTING -LOWMAN RANGER DISTRICT-BOISE NATIONAL FOREST -- IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. It is the purpose of this contract to secure services for The successful contractor will deliver seedlings from the designated roadside access point to the planting units, and plant tree seedlings in accordance with the provisions of this solicitation. Services will also include Tree planting will occur on the Lowman Ranger District of the Boise National Forest. Tree seedlings will be delivered by government officials from the Lowman district tree cooler to the nearest designated roadside access point to the planting units. See project data sheet and maps in attachments for a list of the representative units and their locations. All awarded items will be to one contractor. Item 1 primarily consists of hoedad planting clusters of three trees on a grid spacing (See project data table for specific unit spacing requirements, attachment 2). Item 2 is an optional item that would be awarded under a bilateral agreement if surplus trees are anticipated as the planting project progresses. All items generally occur on slopes between (20% - 60%), with variable aspects, in an area that was burned by wildfire in 2006. Access is limited with some unit walk-in times of about 45 minutes to the nearest edge of the unit; more time would be needed to reach the further points of these units or if carrying heavy loads. The contractor may employ a variety of methods to transport seedlings into the plating areas. Possible methods to transport seedlings include the use of helicopters, live stock or tree runners. It is the contractors' responsibility to determine the most appropriate method for transporting both seedlings and tree planters to the planting units. Potential heli-spot locations are located on planting unit maps. These areas have not been cleared or approved for use by helicopters at this time.
