- General Description of the Work - The Work for this project generally consists of rehabilitation of an approximately 12.5 mile reach ( Sub-reach No.5 ) of an overall 65 miles of the Donna Pump to Brownsville levee system in order to meet the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Levee Certification Requirements of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) regulations (44 CFR 65.10). Major Construction Tasks -( 1) Preparation of right of way (clearing and grubbing) (2) Improvement of existing top of levee (3) Construction of Flex Base (4) Construction of ramps (5) Install seeding for erosion control on the sideslopes of the levee (6) Replacement of sluice gate assemblies inside existing gatewell structures (7) Cleaning and removing debris from openings of culverts, and inlet and outlet structures of the existing gatewell systems. (8) Construction of a 3-foot deep cutoff wall under roadway. Length of the Reach is Approximately 12.5 miles. The magnitude of this project is between $10 million and $12 million. Performance Period - All levee work, excluding maintenance of seeding, shall be completed within four hundred-f ifty (450) calendar days; and all maintenance of seeding shall be completed within one- hundred twenty (120) calendar days of completion of all other levee work. This is a 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE.
