- The US Geological Survey intends to award a noncompetitive contract for preventive maintenance and repairs to PerkinElmer Inc 710 Brigeport Avenue Shelton, CT 06484 for the Perkin Elmer 7300 DV Inductively coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer to analyze trace elements (Sr and Mg) in coral skeletal calcium carbonate (CaCO3) as part of a geolology laboratory facility. Any questions may be addressed to the Contracting Officer by email (fdones-cardona@usgs.gov). Request for Proposal G11PS00645 will be made available to PerkinElmer LAS, Inc on or about July 18, 2011 with an intended award on or about July 28, 2011 for a base year and four option years firm-fix-price The PerkinElmer ICP-OES requires annual maintenance and repairs. This requirement can only be satisfied through an authorized technician from PerkinElmer and not by any other supplier that will not be fully trained on the existing ICP-OES components. PerkinElmer is the only licensed and authorized regional dealer, distributor, and installer for the original system, components and software. In addition, PerkinElmer has done all of the prior work required to install, maintain and repair, and program the existing ICP automation and control system. Thus, Perkin is the only available firm who can provide the professional/technical services to complete the work as specified. This is not a request for competitive proposals. Firms believing that they can provide these services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer at fdones-cardona@usgs.gov. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by the agency by July 15, 2011. Determination by the Government not to compete this action based on responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining to conduct a competitive procurement. NAICS: 811219
