- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE - This is a notice of intent that the Forest Service intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Viale Delle Terme Di Caracalla, Roma ITA 00153, in accordance with FAR subpart 6.3 to ship 100,000 copies of the Natural Inquirer World Forestry Edition for nationwide distribution as part of the Forest Service Conservation Education program in celebration of the International Year of Forests. This is an educational journal for middle school students presenting scientific methods, trend data for, and the current status of forests worldwide. The World's Forest edition is based on the FAO's 2010 Global Forest Resource Assessment. This journal will help the Forest Service meet its goal of connecting kids to their forests and show U.S. students how forests are connected worldwide. This journal will provide a unique educational tool for Forest Service units, visitor points-of-contact, research stations, and the Conservation Education network. There is no solicitation document. This is not a request for proposals. Interested firms may send a capabilities statement to USDA Forest Service, ATTN: Nicole Scott, 1621 North Kent Street, Suite 707 RP-E, Arlington, VA 22209. Anticipated date of award is on/around July 18th, 2011. Capability statements must be recieved in this office within 10 calendar days from publication of this notice. Any response must show convincing evidence that it would be advantageous for the Government to compete this requirement in the future.
