- The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWPNS), China Lake, CA intends to solicit on an other than full and open competition basis limited to authorized Apple Distributors for one (1) High Definition (HD) Digital Media Apple Final Cut Server, including installation; 3-year systems operation support and system on-site operational training using FAR Parts 12 and 13.5. The core server components consist of two (2) Mac Pro servers that will be used as Metadata Controllers; one (1) Mac Pro Server that will function as a Final Cut Server; five (5) Mac Pro Servers that will be utilized as Compressor Cluster nodes; and two (2) Mac Mini Servers that will act as Open Directory and DNS Servers. All Mac Pro servers will be connected to the Xsan via Fibre. A total of five (5) Promise Vtrack E-class units and four (4) Promise SATA Expansion chassis will be rack mounted in the server room. Contractor shall privide equipement racks and hardware mounting. One of the E-class units shall be directly connected to the Mac Pro running Final Cut Server and the others shall be attached to the Xsan via the QLogic Fibre Channel switches. Two gigabit switches shall be installed, one for the metadata network and one to support the public LAN. Apple Professional Services shall also install and configure a Tandberg T80 tape backup unit with expansion drives to back up data on Final Cut Server and Xsan volumes along APC UPS units. Six (6) additional editing workstations shall be configured on the Xsan and shall utilize Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Server. Delivery of the Apple Final Cut Server shall be 30 days from date of order. Installation shall occur within three weeks of delivery of Apple Final Cut Server. Systems Operation Support shall be provided for a period of three years from date of award. One week of On-Site User Training and one week of Final Cut System Administraion Training at Contractor facility shall be provided. The type of contract shall be Firm Fixed Price. The Apple Inc. Final Cut Server System is the only such system, that directly interfaces with the current Video Projects Group owned Apple High Definition (HD) Video Workstations and currently used Apple Final Cut Pro/Studio Video Editing Software at the NAWCWPNS, China Lake. Additional information will be available in the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and the incorporated in the Statement of Work. The solicitation will be available for downloading at NECO “ www.neco.navy.mil or FedBizOps at www.fbo.gov on or about 13 June 2011. The closing date will be 30 days after issuance of RFQ. The estimated closing date is 12 August 2011. All responsible sources may submit a quotation that shall be considered by the agency. Award is anticipated to be on or about 13 September 2011.
