Description
Annual Worldwide Air Force (AF) Corrosion Conference August 16 - 18, 2011 As directed by HQ USAF: Manage AF Corrosion Maintenance Program (AFI 21-105, Air and Space Equipment Structural Maintenance, Apr 03), the mission of the Air Force Corrosion Prevention and Control (AFCPCO) office is to ensure the Air Force has an effective program to prevent, detect, and control corrosion and minimize the impact of corrosion on Air Force combat capability. To fulfill that mission, the AFCPCO hosts the Annual Worldwide Air Force Corrosion Conference each year in Warner Robins, GA, providing Air Force and DoD organizations an opportunity to talk with each other about their corrosion programs, discuss problems, as well as present newly approved materials and processes. Conference dates this year are August 16-18 (travel days August 15 & 19), 2011. The conference will be held at the Robins AFB Museum of Aviation. AFCPCO is a key part of the AF Research Labs Materials and Manufacturing Directorate (RX) commitment to meet user needs, providing a bridge between developers and users in the transition of technologies from laboratory to field and is the primary means to transition technology to AF-wide use. The average annual attendance of the conference is approximately 500 from government and industry involved in all aspects of Corrosion Prevention and Control on aircraft, aerospace systems and support equipment. Technical presentations from other DoD organizations, hand-selected DoD contractors and vendors will be presented and discussed. They include, but are not limited to AF Hex Chrome Strategy, DH/Shelters, 2A7X3/5 Issues, ACC Corrosion Program, PACAF Corrosion Program, Advanced Multifunctional Coatings, Developments in Non-Chromated System Testing, NASA Non-chrome, Painted Sensor Project, US Army Corrosion Program, Microbe Induced Corrosion, F-35 Corrosion Program, Electrocoat Process for Non-Chromated Primers in DoD Manufacturing, C-130 Corrosion Program, MIL Spec Initiatives/Deicing Working Group Initiatives, and Solvent Replacements for Super-A Corrosion Preventive Compound (CPC). The agenda for the conference can be found here. A limited number of vendor booths are available. Interested companies should click here for booth prices and registration details. This conference is free and is an open forum however, early registration is encouraged, as space is limited; click here if you are interested in attending the 2011 AFCPCO Corrosion Conference.
