Description
NUMBER: F11PS00876POSTED DATE: 6/20/2011SUBJECT:Museum Curation and Storage by Thomas Burke Memorial Washington State Museum at the University of Washington for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service This announcement constitutes the only notice. This is not a request for quotes. Under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), Fish & Wildlife Services, Region 7 Contracting and General Services intends to issue a sole source, firm-fixed price order:TO:Thomas Burke Memorial Washington State Museum at the University of Washington Duns: 6057994694333 Brooklyn AVE NE Seattle, WA 98195-0001 FOR :Continued Museum curation, inventorying, reporting and storage services, by the Museum, of cultural materials (Approximately 40 cubic feet of human remains and associated artifacts and grave goods) collected or excavated on lands managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in accordance 36 CFR 79, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) ON:BASE 6/1/2011 - 5/31/2012 W/ 4 Option periods NAICS:611310Colleges, Universities, and Professional Schools AUTHORITY:8.405-6(a)(2) Limited Sources Justification and Approval 13.106(b) Soliciting from a single source (follow on) Determinations not to compete this proposed procurement were made because: The Burke Museum continues to be the only repository which meets Federal curation guidelines spelled out in 36 CFR 79 that is willing to take/keep the large collection of faunal materials. Some of these collections were deposited with the Burke in the late 1970's. Recently the museum has become the primary repository for faunal remains from prehistoric sites in Kodiak. In addition to their value for understanding human use and adaptation, these collections are a priceless record for understanding environmental change over the last 8,000 years. The legal authorities cited above require archeological collections from federal lands to be curated in repositories meeting stringent standards for physical security, staffing and public access. The museum has the space, technical expertise and staffing to properly care for these collections. For more information contact Kathi Smiley at 907-786-3616 or Katherine_Smiley@fws.gov
