- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE Notice of intent to award a sole source contract to: Onset Computer Corporation, 470 Macarthur Blvd, Bourne, MA, 02532-3838 The US Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7, 1011 E. Tudor Rd, Anchorage, AK, 99503 has a requirement for Water Temperature data loggers to support a collaborative project to assess patterns in lake temperature dyanamics throughout western Alaska. Technical Requirements: Accuracy 0.20 C, over 0 to 50 C; Resolution 0.02 C at 25 C;Stability 0.1 C / year; Real-time clock 1 minute / month; Battery life 5 years @ 1 minutelogging interval; Memory 64K bytes; Minimum waterproofto 120 metersQuantity 148 Due to the remote setting of study lakes, it is necessary that water temperature sensorsbe programmable with an internal battery power, self-contained, ruggedized against adverseenvironmental conditions, and have sufficient internal memory to store data betweendeployments. Additionally, many study lakes will be located within designated wildernesswhere long-term deployment of scientific installations is often not permitted. Thus, instrumentsmust be small and inconspicuous in design to prevent impacts to the natural, undisturbed qualityof wilderness. Sensors that rely on an external power source and data logger will not meet thesample design of this study and will not be permitted within designated wilderness.Onset Computer Corporation is currently the only commercial vendor that offers a self-containedwater temperature thermistor that meets the technical requirements for this project. Othervendors offer water temperature sensors that meet or exceed the accuracy, resolution andstability requirements but these sensors are not self-contained and rely on an external datalogging and power source. The estimated value of this procurement is $16,777.00 This Notice of Intent is not a request for Expressions of Interest (EOIs), proposals or quotations. This service will be procured under Firm Fixed Price in accordance with FAR 12 procedures and soliciting from a single source as authorized under FAR 13.106-1(b).
