Description
Word version of FBO posted description. The Coast Guard Academy is requesting information (RFI) for market research related to the potential replacement of the 16 boat Colgate 26 sail training fleet used for cadet training at the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. The fleet is used for basic sail training and inter-collegiate racing. This requirement would be for a replacement vessel as follows: Fiberglass; Fractional Sloop Rigged Keel Boat of 27' or less; with a Maximum Draft of 5'; a Maximum Beam of 9' and will accommodate a maximum crew of 6 persons for day use (no overnight accommodations required). The vessel must be of adequate construction to withstand rigorous use; relatively forgiving and easy to handle; of stability suitable for basic sail instruction yet lively and performance oriented sufficiently to be raced in open and inter-collegiate competition. This is a sources sought announcement for a market survey to obtain written information only. This is not a solicitation and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Coast Guard Contracting Office, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or ultimately award any contracts. An award will not be made on offers received in response to this notice. The Government is not responsible for the cost associated with any effort expended in responding to this notice. The United States Coast Guard is researching sources to meet a future USCGA sailboat requirement. A potential purchase of boats may occur in FY11 should the funding become available with sufficient lead time for procurement. In addition, the socio economic status of sources is sought to determine whether or not to set aside an acquisition for HUBZone concerns, for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns (SDVOSB) or for Small Business concerns. The small business size standard is 500. The NAICS codes applicable are 441222, Boat Dealers, or 336612, Boat Building.
