- Description
- The USFS requires the collection and ingest of four to six fire weather towers that we operate in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, and the ingest of a series of towers operated by the NJ Weather and Climate Network (NJWxNet) and the NJ Forest Fire Service RAWS towers. We also require the maintenance of the NJFireNet web sites listed above, and the delivery of fire weather data to other users (the MADIS and MesoWest/ROMAN networks). In addition, maintenance of fire weather sensors on selected towers surrounding the Pine Barrens is required. In addition to these activities, we are requesting the delivery of fire weather data from a series of Mesonet and other towers in and around the Pine Barrens for modeling fire danger and fire behavior during selected events, such as the 2007 wildfire at Warren Grove, and a series of wildfires that occurred in the spring and summer of 2010. We are requesting as long a dataset as is available, to be provided in a specific format for ingest into the FireFamily Plus and other modeling packages.
