- The Joint CREW I1B1 acquisition program (formerly JCREW 3.3) provides the military services with an electronic warfare capability to counter the threat from Radio-Controlled IEDs (RCIED). The Joint CREW Program is managed by PMS-408 EOD/CREW and it intends to host an UNCLASSIFIED Open Business (OB) Industry Day to increase Government ™s access to creative innovation while educating prospective vendors on strategies to provide new capabilities and services to our warfighters. This event is open to system integrators, innovators, and third party suppliers. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS EXIST AT THIS TIME; any release will be announced on www.FedBizOps.gov. The Government anticipates awarding one or more contracts on or about the 2nd Quarter GFY13 with initial delivery planned for on or about GFY15. The information provided is for information only and is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a contract or order. The Government will not pay for any effort expended or any material provided in response to this announcement nor will the Government return any data provided. This Industry Day will discuss future acquisition strategies leveraging the benefits of open architecture design elements to create the means for third-party technology innovators to participate in a coherent development, procurement and validation of system and sub-system level technology insertion /technology refresh (TI/TR). Currently, PMS-408 EOD/CREW plans for a series of incremental developments to enable technology insertion and technology refresh as follows: 1) Technology insertion updates cut into the existing production line to include hardware, firmware or software, into existing production line every three years, 2) Periodic technology refresh of fielded systems every six years (retrofitting - fielded systems) to maintain common baselines and to account for obsolescence while countering the rapidly evolving threat. The JCREW System of Systems (SoS) approach includes three distinct systems that utilize common hardware, software and firmware components. These systems are: dismounted system (man-portable), mounted system (ground vehicle and waterborne), and fixed site system (temporary geographical area and permanent). The overall system architecture ™s open, modular and flexible design ensures the ability to upgrade the product baseline for performance, affordability, availability and reliability. The Industry Day will be on 8 August 2011 and held at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab, Kossiakoff Center, 11100 Johns Hopkins Road, Laurel, Maryland 20723. Directions to Kossiakoff Center may be provided upon registration. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at a cost of $20.00 (cash only) per person to be collected upon registration. Space constraints make it necessary to limit attendance to two personnel per company.
