- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with NKT Photonics, of Morganville, New Jersey, for the purchase of a SuperContinuum Laser System, to be used by the Optical Technology Division, at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. ***The Sole Source determination is based on the need to purchase a SuperContinuum Laser System that will be used for an intramural research program on ‘Optical Medical Imaging (OMI)". NKT Photonics is the only known vendor capable in providing the required Laser System. Minimum Specifications: 1. Spectral coverage: 420nm-2400nm 2. Variation of repetition rate (2MHz to 80 MHz) "on the fly", allowing one to change rate without having to switch the system off. 3. Constant power mode, ensuring that the pulse energy is constant upon changing rep rate. 4. NIM trigger delay, allowing an input of a variable delay to compensate for any measurement dispersion. 5. Unique graphical user interface for easy control of the source via a PC 6. The power in the visible range is 400 mW and the total power is greater than 2.4 W 7. Upgradable, allowing future upgrades in power accessories ***Delivery shall be FOB DESTINATION and be completed in accordance with the Contractor's commercial schedule. *** *****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees. ******A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. *****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. However, responses received by June 17, 2011 will be considered by the Government.
