- Description
- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) - Interagency Cache Business System (ICBS) The United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USFS) is the managing agency for the National Interagency Cache Business System (ICBS). ICBS is the principle software application which supports core business functions for inventory management in supply warehouses used in support of the protection mission of member agencies of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG). The inventory of items stored in incident caches is determined by the NWCG National Fire Equipment Technology Committee. The cache system is comprised of thirteen National Interagency Support Caches ("National Caches") and a smaller number of Local Area Support Caches (LASC) hosted by various federal and state wildland agencies. In a project which focused on the reengineering of the legacy ICBS application was completed in 2010. The result of this effort was: Improved and streamlined business processes (e.g. inventory receiving and issuing, inventory returns and refurbishment, cache-to-cache transfers, cycle counting, annual physical inventory, etc.). Improved inventory management and visibility through the implementation of wireless bar code scanning technology. Improved reporting capability. Improved efficiency in delivering supplies to customers. An interface with the NWCG Resource Ordering and Status System (ROSS) which eliminates redundant data entry and increases the efficiency of order processing Submit in Writing any questions to Jason P.
