Description
STATEMENT OF WORK 1. TITLE. JEWISH CHAPLAIN (PART TIME) 2. GENERAL. The service of a Rabbi is required to conduct Jewish Services, and to provide faith-specific pastoral care to patients, staff and families at NNMC Bethesda. 3. OBJECTIVE. The objective of this effort is to conduct services and provide pastoral ministrations necessary to the welfare of our personnel. 4. SPECIFIC TASKS. The following tasks shall be performed in accordance with the contract to be awarded: a. Develop and maintain an environment that meets the religious and spiritual needs of Jewish patients, staff, and family members. b. Provide pastoral visitation to hospital wards, workspaces, and residences as required. c. Provide spiritual direction, enhancement and mentoring to patients, staff, and family members and other authorized persons during normal working hours and on an "on-call" basis for after hour emergencies. Emergencies are defined as a patient facing imminent death or life-threatening surgery, or when a patient has just died and the family wants to meet with a rabbi. d. Attend staff meetings of the Pastoral Care Services department as needed. e. Implement programs in response to identified needs. 5. QUALIFICATIONS. The Jewish Chaplaincy Services of the Jewish Social Service Agency must provide a Jewish Chaplain as follows: a. Provide written verification of professional qualifications, to include: 1. Ecclesiastical endorsement from their faith group. 2. Transcripts of education, to include a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters. Have comprehensive knowledge of the Bible, Talmud, Rabbinic Literature, Jewish History and theology. Additional courses in education, pastoral psychology and public speaking are beneficial. b. Possess effective time management and organizational capabilities. c. Have a strong working knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Word). d. Be in good standing with their faith group. e. Demonstrate good judgment in working with a variety of constituents. f. Be willing to use all proper means to develop and strengthen the spiritual well-being and operational readiness of command personnel by providing for the religious requirements of service members, their families and other authorized personnel. g. Maintain the trust and respect of the command, staff, and board members. Confidentiality is imperative subject to HIPPA requirements. h. Have interpersonal skills and be a highly ethical person who treats all parties with courtesy and professionalism. 6. PLACE, PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE AND WORK DAYS. a. Place of Performance: All work will be conducted at the NNMC Bethesda Chapel, Building 8, Room 1329B b. Period of Performance: The period of performance shall be from the effective date of the delivery order through the following 13 months. c. Frequency of Performance: 10 hours per week, Monday-Friday (not including emergencies)FTE: 0.25...POP: 6/11/11 THRU 6/10/12. d. Review of Performance: Quarterly with Director of Jewish Chaplaincy Services and/or Director of Jewish Community Outreach of JSSA. 7. WORK REQUIREMENTS. The Rabbi shall report to the Director, Pastoral Care, NNMC and Director of Jewish Chaplaincy Services of JSSA. 8. HOURLY PAY. NNMC Bethesda will pay Jewish Chaplaincy Services on hour basis for services rendered, including pastoral visitation, spiritual direction, attending of staff meetings and implementation of programs. 9. TERMINATION OF CONTRACT: Contract may be terminated by either party with 30 days advance notice.
