- Description
- This is a Request For Information (RFI) to obtain market research. The Bureau of Land Management is seeking information about Enterprise Search products. The Bureau requires the capability for users to search user files, e-mail, e-mail archives (both Lotus Notes and from Outlook/Exchange), home directories, group shares, local hard drives, internal and external websites, SharePoint sites and address books. It must leverage Active Directory to enforce permissions such that people can only search their own content unless permissions to search shared content are explicitly given. Group permissions shall be available. The Bureau has approximately 500TB of data, much of which is in ESRI geodatabases, KMLs, Web Services, and file geodatabases. Other data is in Microsoft Office products and binaries such as jpgs. Some of this data is held in UNIX based systems (e.g., Solaris, AIX, and Linux) that do not necessarily leverage AD. Prospective offerors shall describe how their tools work with these kinds of data and systems. The Bureau requires Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) tools that can mine and extract metadata from the existing artifacts, index the metadata and provide both a text based and a geospatially based search capability. These tools shall also allow the user to add their own metadata pertaining to their artifacts. It is preferable that any indices these tool create either be in XML or in RDF format. This RFI is pursuant to the Bureau following initiating a full an open competition to acquire these products.
