- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Service and Interface and Research Group of the Surface and Microanalysis Science Division, Material Measurement Laboratory, intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Princeton Gamma-tech Instruments, Inc, Princeton, NJ, for the purchase of a Digital CCD Camera System. Sole Source determination is based on the following: A NIST-owned Princeton Instrument Spec-10-LN spectroscopic camera, Model number 7508-0001, is used for experiments at NIST. This requirement is to upgrade this instrument with a Princeton Instrument PIXIS:100B_eXecelon Digital CCD Camera system. This CCD Camera system must be compatible with the existing instrument. The existing instrument and technology are proprietary to Princeton Gamma-tech Instruments, Inc. Based on the above Princeton Gamma-tech Instruments is the only vendor capable of providing the required Digital CCD Camera System upgrade to a NIST-owned Princeton Instrument Spec-10-LN spectroscopic camera, Model number 7508-0001 in order to satisfy the Government's minimum requirements. Princeton Gamma-tech Instruments is the sole manufacturer and distributor. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334519, and the size standard is 500 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by June 10, 2011, 3:30 p.m. EST. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
