Description
DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Contracting Command-Picatinny (ACC-PICA), on behalf/insupport of TACOM at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources that are knowledgeable and capable of designing and fabricating a new Travel Lock Actuator, used to open and close the gun tube locking mechanism, for the M109A6 Paladin Self Propelled Howitzer (SPH) system. Current Travel Lock Actuator Part Number: 57K3244 National Stock Number: 3010-01-373-5945. The current travel lock actuator is a sole source item, which is subject to corrosion and damage resulting from environmental exposure. The existing design employs clutch and seal technology that has since been improved and updated. The purpose of this survey is to identify vendors capable of producing a new Paladin actuator that meets drawing performance and envelope requirements. This effort is focusing on producing a new travel lock actuator that will have improved reliability and maintainability. PLANNED ACQUISITION: At this time the Government is looking to understand the capabilities of industry and does not presently intend to award a contract. SUBMISSION INFORMATION: Interested companies should respond by providing the Government the following information: (1) A description of the design, performance characteristics (2) Name of company (3) Company size. (4) Point of Contacts name, telephone number and E-mail address; (5) Company address; (6) Business size information; (7) Summary of technology readiness; (8) Other areas where ammunition is used i.e. other governments, teaming agreements etc. Interested companies should submit their qualification and capability information within 30 days of this notice via electronic mail only to the Contract Specialist, Paul Giovannoli, paul.giovannoli@us.army.mil. Please identify Travel Lock Actuator Request for Information (RFI) in the subject of the Email transmission. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. This is a RFI for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal, nor as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for information solicited. Participation in this effort is strictly voluntary. Please identify any proprietary information submitted. The Government intends to utilize the information received only to develop the acquisition strategy for future requirements. Any of the information stated above is subject to change.
