- Sandia National Laboratories, the lead research and development laboratory for the Department of Energy's physical security programs, is seeking one or more business partners including, but not limited to the mining, geothermal, and/or mineral extraction field to develop Sandia's novel water treatment technology for arsenic removal. Sandia is seeking a company or companies to commercially license the technology described in this posting and expects the successful company/companies to engage in the creation of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Sandia to further develop the technology. Commercial licensees will have the opportunity to obtain a license to the intellectual properties for reasonable compensation. It is expected that the company/companies that work with Sandia to develop the novel water treatment technology for arsenic removal will promptly incorporate it into a commercial product. Potential partners must provide Sandia information describing their ability to research, design, develop, distribute, and market the arsenic extraction and recovery technology. The technology includes: - Methods for removing arsenic from water by addition of magnesium oxide and/or magnesium hydroxide to the water. - Methods to enhance the ability of magnesium oxide and/or magnesium hydroxide to remove arsenic from water by modification of the magnesium sorbents. - Methods for safe disposal or reprocessing of the arsenic containing magnesium sorbents.
