Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Venier Software & Technology LLC, 13979 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton, OR 970052886 for described below. 1- Item Code LQ-MS-DX Middle School LabQuest Deluxe Includes: 24 LABQ - Vernier LabQuest Interface 24 MD-BTD - Motion Detector 24 PH-BTA - PH Sensor 24 VP-BTA - Voltage Probe 24 TMP-BTA - Stainless Steel Temp Probe 24 LS-BTA - Light Sensor 24 DFS-BTA - Dual-Range Force Sensor 24 GPS-BTA - Gas Pressure Sensor 24 HGH-BTA - Hand-Grip Heart Rate Monitor 24 CON-BTA - Conductivity Probe 24 MG-BTA - Magnetic Field Sensor 2- Item Code MSV - Middle School with Vernier 3- Item Code LP - Logger Pro 3 4 - 1 Day Workshop The Vernier LabQuest is a hand-held stand-alone scientific laboratory interface with over 50 available sensors/probes including a motion detector, pH sensor, voltage probe, stainless steel temperature probe, light sensor, dual-range force sensor, gas pressure sensor, hand-grip heart rate sensor, conductivity probe, and magnetic field sensor. NIST has purchased LabQuests for use with the 44 teachers in the NIST Summer Institute for Middle School Science Teachers during the summers of 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 and needs to continue purchase from the same source so that the new teachers coming into the program in Summer 2011 will have the same equipment. If NIST were to procure the sensors and probes from another vendor, NIST would have to extend the timeframe for the Summer Institute due to a significant learning curve for Summer Institute support staff and for the Middle School teachers. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed- price purchase order. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations; however, companies that believe they can fulfill the requirement may provide a written response to this notice and provide clear and unambiguous evidence to substantiate that capability. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competition.
