- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a brand name sole source fixed-price purchase order under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)), Simplified Acquisition Procedures for FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE spread-spectrum radio transceivers.The United States Geological Survey intends to procure the following: 1) FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE spread-spectrum radio transceiver, 900 MHz frequency band (10 each WITH Trade-in). 2) FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE spread-spectrum radio transceiver, 900 MHz frequency band (20 each WITHOUT Trade-in). 3) Shipping services to send Radios to The United States Geological Survey Earthquake Science Center, Menlo Park, CA. The FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE spread-spectrum radio transceivers provide a high data rate (up to 115 kilobaud) and long-range transmission specification (up to 60 miles) required for this application. The FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE also provides both serial RS-232 and Ethernet data transmission in a single package. Request is to be fulfilled by purchasing FreeWave radios due to capability and compatibility of product. Similar FreeWave models are currently being used; concluding that there are no substitutes for this product that will be compatible with current inventory. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROCUREMENT.Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting the USGS requirement as stated herein may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the Agency (FAR 5.207(c)(15)(ii)). All questions or comments regarding this procurement shall be addressed in writing to Zachary Buss, at zbuss@usgs.gov. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-51, Effective 15 April 2011.The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 517210 (Wireless Telecommunication). SBA Size Standard in employees: 500The requirement is unrestricted to business size.
