- Proposals are being solicited by the USDA, Forest Service for the Middle Fork Ranger District Trail Maintenance project located on the Middle Fork Ranger District, Salmon-Challis National Forest, Custer County, Idaho. General Maintenance Work: This work consists of restoring the original trail template including clearing all trees, brush and limbs within the clearing limits; removing loose rocks, slough and berm material; filling ruts and troughs to reshape the trail tread; restoring drainage and existing drainage structures; and removing protruding rocks, roots, stumps. Standards for trail maintenance are shown on the drawings and described in Specifications associated with the Pay Items. General maintenance work items will not be marked and shall be completed as defined in the Specifications. The Contractor shall identify items and accomplish general maintenance work. Heavy Maintenance: This work consists of repairing sections of trails damaged by heavy use and deteriorating trail conditions or by events such as heavy runoff, slides, wind, flood, and fires to restore the trail to standards. Work may include clearing, excavation, borrow, new drainage structures, and cutting and removal of fallen trees. Some areas require the placement of borrow material. The borrow source will be determined in the field within one half mile of the placement site. All items of work will be either flagged on the ground or staked with identification markers. This requirement is being solicited as a Firm-Fixed Price Request for Quote using simplified acquisition procedures. The approximate start work date will be June 15, 2011. Quotes are due at 3:00 p.m. MST, June 7, 2011. The estimated price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. The solicitation will be available on approximately May 10, 2011 and may be downloaded from this site at that time. All future information about this acquisition, including amendments, will be distributed solely through this site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. Vendors are required to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) http:www.ccr.gov and shall complete the On-Line Registration and Certifications Application (ORCA) http://orca.bpn.gov. All responsible sources may submit a response to this announcement which will be considered by this agency.
