- The previous Notice of Intent to Sole Source, issued on April 18, 2011 for contract number V797P-4401a shall be amended to correct the contract number to V797P-4443a. The amendment shall read as follows: Contract Number: V797P-4443a Notice Type: Notice of Intent to Sole Source Based on FAR Part 6.302-2 "Unusual and Compelling Urgency" The Department of Veterans' Affairs VISN 9 Network Contracting Activity (NCA) awarded a sole source procurement to Kinetic Concepts, Inc.(KCI), located at 3750 Torrey View Court, San Diego, CA 92130-2635, for VAMC, Memphis, Tennessee on April 15, 2011. Award of this sole source contract was made to KCI for the continued rental of KCI Wound V.A.C. units currently in use at VAMC Memphis. The KCI Wound V.A.C systems are utilized in the treatment of various types of wounds from acute applications such as Open Abdomens, Surgical Dehisced Wounds, Traumatic and Grafts to Chronic such as Stage 3 and 4 Pressure ulcers. This treatment is known as negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). The period of performance, for rental of KCI Wound V.A.C systems, will be from April 15, 2011 to June 14, 2011. A solicitation/synopsis will not be issued as this is an urgent need, in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-2. This is a sixty day obligation so as not to disrupt patient care prior to a solicitation/synopsis being posted on eBuy for one base year and four option years. This award is for a limited sixty day period from April 15, 2011 to June 14, 2011 and will be awarded competitively, through GSA/FAA, for a rental contract of wound vacuums to begin on June 15, 2011. The competitively awarded contract will be for one base year and four option years, subject to the availability of funds. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is implemented by FAR 6.302-2 (unusual and compelling urgency) as interruption in service to veterans will adversely impact patient care. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. This is limited source procurement. The NAICS code for this procurement will be 423450 (Medical Dental Hospital Equipment and Supplies) Size standard 100 personnel. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes.
