- The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to issue, on a sole-source basis, contract N00024-11-C-2302 to Bath Iron Works (BIW), 700 Washington Street, Bath, ME 04530-2574, to maintain necessary Lead Yard engineering and technical support for DDG 51 Class Lead and Follow ship class configurations. As the lead-yard ship designer and builder, BIW is the only firm capable of providing timely and effective lead-yard services to support DDG 51 Class lead-yard construction. BIW has the requisite familiarity and knowledge of DDG 51 configurations as well as a detailed understanding of the construction techniques and practices used to build these ships. The resultant contract will be for one year with options for up to four additional years. See numbered Note 22. This pre-solicitation notice is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Government is not soliciting, nor will it accept, proposals as a result of this synopsis. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any questions submitted or information provided as a result of this notice. This is not an RFP or a promise to issue an RFP and this information is subject to modification and in no way binds the Government to award a contract.
