Description
Mine Roller Suspension Upgrade Request for Information RFI Number: M67854-11-I-5058 BACKGROUND The mission of Marine Corps mine rollers is to locate and detonate buried mines and IEDs. Current mine roller technology limits effective operational speeds to 10-12 mph to prevent degraded performance from roller wheel-hop. Advanced suspension systems with optimized damping and spring rate could significantly reduce unsprung mass and minimize wheel hop. The Marine Corps Systems Command Quantico, VA seeks information for a Mine Roller Kit that will minimize/eliminate roller wheel hop and is able to demonstrate threat detonation and threat-clearing effectiveness at higher operating speeds (25 mph and higher). Modifications that enhance the interrogation mission are also of interest. APPROACH The Government intends to review candidate systems based on technical maturity, effectiveness, ease-of-integration, and cost to determine if suitable systems exist. Candidate systems must be fully developed and be easily integrated on existing mine rollers. This information will be used to support a planned upcoming procurement initiative to field this capability. RESPONSES Potential offerrors with the ability to meet the requirements listed are requested to provide information on their solution, whether it is designs and test data, information on existing kits, or development and approach for the kit. Responses should include the firm ™s business size, SBA certification, and GSA schedule contract number, as applicable, and a rough-order of magnitude (ROM) price for one (1) kit. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government for any follow-on action. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary information and data may be part of this effort. Such data should be clearly marked and included as a proprietary addendum to the non-restricted/non proprietary information. Responses to this RFI shall be e-mailed to Thomas Anable at thomas.anable@usmc.mil or sent to the address below no later than 2:00 PM EST on 21 April 2011. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted.
