Z- CUSTER NATIONAL FOREST Palisades Campground Road Project location: The project is located on the Neartooth Ranger District in T7S R30E on FS road #2010 the Palisades Campground road. Work includes grading and shaping the road template, resurfacing the road with 4" compacted depth crushed aggregate, clearing and grubbing, excavation, topsoil salvaging, constructing turnouts, a parking area, a turnaround area, drainage dips, removing culverts, installing new culverts, equipment rental, spreading topsoil, and hydraulic seeding and mulching of all disturbed areas. Contractor shall collect boulders along the West Fork of Rock Creek Rd. #2071 and place them as parking barriers at the parking and turnaround areas, as staked by the COR. Work in the campground includes grading the campground road toa smooth contour. Reconditioning the road according to Section 203 -Road Reconditioning in the FP-03 specifications and finish campground roadbeds to the tolerance class C shown in Section 204 of the Special Project Specifications. Contractor shall construct 2 waterbars on the lower loop of Palisades Campground in areas designated by the COR that will address drainage and minimize road damage due to water runoff. Addative Item includes spot surfacing the Palisades Campground road and parking areas with 4 " compacted crushed aggregate. Large dump trucks may not be able to access the campground loops. (local aggregate sources near Red Lodge typically do not have binder in the aggregate. bentonite may need to be added in order to meet specifications). Magnitude of construction is between $25,000 and $150,000. A site visit is scheduled for April 21, 2011 at 10:00 am. Meet at Beartooth Ranger District in Red Lodge, MT.
