- Question 1A: The scope of work for this project calls for the abandonment of the existing water main and replacing it with NEW water main (PVC C900). Contractor is inquiring if a alternative method of construction by rehabilitating the existing water main by cured in place pipe would be approved. Question 1B: If your answer is to comply with the Invitation for Bid (IFB) requirements - Contractor(s) will assume that open cut installation is only method accepted at this time for a the installation for the design/build water main project. Government Response to Question 1A: Per Statement of Work (SOW) (Para 1.2) it is clear that "Existing water piping and associate pipe fittings, valves shall be abandoned in place." Cured in place pipe which utilizes existing water main is NOT acceptable method for this acquisition. Government Response to Question 1B: Comply with SOW Paragraph 3.1.2.5.
