Description
RipStop Spec This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. This is NOT a request for proposals and in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. The purpose of this sources sought synopsis is to gain knowledge of commercially available uniform material fabric that may be of interest to the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The USCG Headquarters is conducting market research to determine manufacturers and suppliers that may provide cloth according to the attached purchase description for wind resistant poplin nylon/cotton cloth, dyed to match Coast Guard Blue 3362. The purchase description for rip stop cloth is one class only. It shall have a durable soil, stain, and wrinkle resistant finish. See attached purchase description. Responses to this notice should include company name, address, telephone number, point of contact (POC), and complete product details, brochures, and etc. which will allow the USCG to understand your fabric's capabilities for meeting the product description. Also, responses should state approximate lead-time for acquiring your fabric. Please provide the details and terms of any standard warranty included with the fabric. Please respond to the following questions: (1) Is your business a large or small business and how many employees? (2) If small, does your firm qualify as a small, emergent business, or a small, disadvantaged business? (3) If disadvantaged, specify under which disadvantaged group and is your firm certified under Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act? (4) Is your firm a certified hub zone firm? (5) Is your firm a woman-owned or operated business? (6) Is your firm a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned? (7) Is your product listed on a GSA schedule? (8) Do you have other government agencies using the product, and if so which agencies, POCs and contract numbers? (9) If possible, any POCs for civilian users for general usage of product questions. After the review of the responses to this request for information (RFI) the USCG will use the information to confirm if there are multiple mills providing fabric that could meet the USCG fabric requirement. This will be used for determining the availability of sources for future operational dress uniform (ODU) fabric requirements. Responses to this RFI are not adequate response to any future solicitation announcement. The USCG does not directly purchase fabric under the attached product description but incorporates the product description into the ODU uniform requirement. Again, this is not a request for proposals and in no way obligates the USCG to award any contract. Closing date and time for receipt of response is March 31, 2011, 4:30 p.m., EST. E-mail responses are preferred and may be sent to jim.dawson@uscg.mil. Please indicate HSCG23-11-I-9407 in subject line.
