- Intent to Sole Source The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a sole source award in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). The FBI intends to award a non-competitive, sole source purchase order to Affymetrix Inc, 3420 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA, 95051, for a maintenance service agreement for the preventative maintenance to the GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G. Accurate results from the scanner can only be obtained with a laser that is properly calibrated and maintained to the manufacturer's specifications. The GeneChip Scanner 300 7G is solely manufactured by Affymetrix, Inc. The requested maintenance is specific for the instrument and is provided by trained personnel from Affymetrix, Inc. Therefore, Affymetrix, Inc. is the only company that can service this system. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however interested parties may identify their interests and capability to respond to this requirement or submit quotes to this office by 2:00 PM, EST, Monday, March 21, 2011, via facsimile to the attention of Ms. Kathleen Cannon Jones, Contracting Officer, at (703) 632-8480. E-mail quotes will also be accepted at Kathleen.Cannon@ic.fbi.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All contractors anticipating award, must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database.
