- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for GARNET ABRASIVE BLAST MATERIAL; for Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD), Chambersburg, PA. This will be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Contract for the purchase and delivery of twenty (20) bags of the required material for delivery in April, 2011. The Request for Quote (RFQ) documents will define the technical and performance requirements, and include a Statement of Work (SOW) and Statement of Compliance for an abrasive media for dry mechanical depainting of metallic surfaces. The media shall be garnet blast media delivered in super-sacks that contain 4400 lbs of media per sack. Material acceptability will be determined by the government's technical personnel based primarily on the salient characteristics contained in the RFQ. The media must meet the requirements of Federal Specification A-A-59316 Type IV, Grade A except as specifically contradicted by this document. The abrasive media must be an almandine garnet. The abrasive media must be an alluvial, uncrushed garnet. The particle size distribution must conform to the following screen analysis: The blast media shall be supplied in water proof bulk sacks designed and fabricated to suspend the specified load from the corner handles for an indefinite period of time without tearing or leaking media. Each bulk sack of media shall contain 4,400 lbs of media and be shipped on standard size, 4-way entry pallets. The NAICS code is 327910 and the FSC code is 5350. All respondents shall be actively registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) System, have a valid DUNS number, Cage Code, and Tax Identification Number. This is an unrestricted RFQ.
