- GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The purpose and intent of this contract is to secure services for pre-commercial tree thinning of 270 acres of young growth timber in of conifer reproduction, approximately 27 to 30 years old located on the Tongass National Forest; Hoonah Ranger District. The Contractor must furnish all labor, equipment, housing, subsistence, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals except those items listed as Government-furnished property. The performance period is 200 calendar days. PROJECT LOCATION: This project is located on the Tongass National Forest's Hoonah Ranger District. All Items are located in the Freshwater Creek area approximately 15 toad miles south of Hoonah. The city of Hoonah, Alaska, pop 900, is the administrative site of the Hoonah Ranger District. Hoonah is located on the east side of Chichagof Island. It is approximately 40 air miles west of Juneau, Alaska, the closest transportation and supply center. Access to Hoonah is limited to air and water transportation. Alaska Airlines, in combination with Juneau based air taxi and charter services, provide air service between Seattle, Washington, Juneau and Hoonah. The Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System (from Bellingham, Washington), barge services (from both Juneau and Seattle) and Juneau and Hoonah based landing-craft charter services, provide water transportation for passengers and/or freight. Because of the uniqueness of Southeast Alaska regarding access, logistics, and service points, it is strongly recommended that prospective Contractors adequately familiarize themselves with the area to help determine mobilization costs, living, and travel expenses. SOLICITATION INFORMATION: The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about March 29, 2011 for viewing and printing. Potential offerors are requested to obtain the solicitation from the Internet. If unable to successfully obtain the solicitation from the internet, then a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907-747-4289. Fax requests must reference solicitation number RFQ-AG-0116-S-11-0056. Telephone requests will not be honored. Quotes will be due approximately 30 calendar days after the solicitation issue date. AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION: By registering to receive notification on posted synopses, you will be automatically notified via email of any changes to the project. To register, select Register to Receive Notification and follow the steps. Follow the same procedure for EACH project. PLAN HOLDERS LISTS: The Interested Vendors List (IVL) has replaced the plan Holders Lists that was previously available with solicitation packages. Access the IVL for all projects through the FedBizOpps website. To register as an interested vendor, select Register as an Interested Vendor and follow the steps. Follow this procedure for EACH project of interest. Use the Register as Interested Vendor option to add your company name to the IVL and then view or print the IVL by selecting View List of Interested Vendors for EACH project. IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to receive any contract award, Vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) databases.
