- SOUTHERN REGIONAL CONTRACTING OFFICE BROOKE ARMY MEDICAL CENTER BRANCH FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS 78234-6000 Pre-Solicitation Notice The Southern Regional Contracting Office, Brooke Army Medical Center intends to issue a solicitation for Chagus Blood Testing Services in support of Darnall Army Community Hospital, Fort Hood, TX. Chagus is named after Carlos Chagus, who discovered the parasite, Trypanosoma cruzi, in 1909. This infestation of the parasite in humans is prevalent mainly in Mexico, Central and South America. The FDA approved test for the detection of the antibody to Trypanosoma cruzi, which utilizes antibody Enzyme Immunoassay, is required to be used to test for the presence of the T. cruzi antibody in blood specimens. These required testing services enables Darnall Army Community Hospital to maintain and continue to provide superior healthcare services to the warfighter and patients. The RFQ will be available on or about 11 Mar 2011, contract period of performance will begin approximately 15 April 2011 through 30 Sep 2011and includes one 12 month option period.
