Description

This notice is published for informational purposes only and not as a request for competitive proposals. The Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System James A. Haley in Tampa, FL intends to award a 'Sole Source contract, in accordance with FAR 6.302-2, to ABIOMED Inc. The Disposable Impella Pumps procured in this request is deemed Urgent requirements. Cardiothoracic Surgery has an open heart surgery on March 03, 2011 and needs to have the Disposable Impella Pumps available on Monday Feb 28, 2011 to prepare them for surgery. ABIOMED Inc. can provide the pumps in such a short notice. Due to the urgency of the procurement, any competition for this medical equipment was waived in accordance with FAR 6.301-2. This requirement will be classified under NAICS 334510. No solicitation document is available. Interested persons may respond to the requirement by 03:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, March 02, 2011. Send responses to hector.lopez-rodriguez@va.gov. The government will evaluate responses to determine if a competitive solicitation is appropriate for future acquisitions.
