Description
This requirement will require the contractor at their own expense to come to Hill AFB in Utah for an industry day on March 3rd at 9:00 AM Mountain time and if need be March 4th at 9:00AM. The industry day is being held so the contractors can come in and take measurements of the various aircraft rims. There are 21 different aircraft rims which we need 33 different custom molds created for. The molds will be used to create the paint masks. Various quantities of these paint masks will be needed over the next 5 years so we will be awarding an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to the successful contractor. The masks are needed to cover the following areas on the rims: race guards, bearing bore areas, and tiebolt areas. The painting process uses an accelerated paint drying process that drys the parts in 1 hour. Therefore, these masks need to be able to withstand temperatures up to 200 degress in and IfraRed based over. The temperatures do not exceed 200 degrees. We currently do not have any drawings with specifications; therefore, the using activity will be able to make available 75 percent of the rims from the requirement during the industry day. Once the initial industry day is done, as part of your bid proposal we will ask you to include your expected cost for two subsequent visits by an employee of your company to come measure the remaining wheel rims that were not available during the initial industry day. Obviously, until your company has measurements, you would not be able to produce a mold and mask; nevertheless, in order for us to be able to award this proposal to your company we would need you to be able to estimate a cost for all wheel rims knowing that the use of the masks are going to be for one of three areas. Once again, these three areas are the race guard, bearing bore cover, or tiebolt area. The requirement will require the contactor to be capable of designing the mask according to how they feel it should be designed to function properly.
