Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a requirement to generate specific monoclonal antibodies to the VP4 capsid protein and a hydrophobic peptide of VP1 of poliovirus for use towards understanding the persistence and ecology of enteric viruses in drinking water systems. Currently, the significance of the transient forms of the enterovirus capsid and other factors that might induce alternate capsid conformations is poorly understood. Antibodies directed against these normally internal structures can help identify factors, such as environmental stressors, that induce a conformational change. Additionally, the significance of the transient state of these dynamic structures can be investigated to determine their role in enterovirus persistence in aquatic matrices. This requirement was originally synopsized on 12//09/2010 to be awarded as a competitive small business set-aside. However, due to the lack of small business competition, the small business set-aside has been dissolved and the RFQ will be amended as full and open competition. Please note that the reference number originally synopsized as RFQ-RT-11-00010 was replaced with RFQ-RT-11-00002 when our legacy contracting system was replaced with our new acquisition system. The base effort will require an estimated (4) months to complete, however, if the option is exercised by the Government the total period of performance will be (8) eight months after award. NAICS Code 541711 applies with a small business size standard of 500 employees. Quotes will be due approximately 15 calendar days after issuance of the request for quote (RFQ), IAW. FAR Part 13. The RFQ and any amendments will be available via the Internet http://www.epa.gov/oam/rtp_cmd. It will be the responsibility of the interested parties to frequently check the same site for any updates or changes regarding this requirement. Quotes are to be submitted to John Southerland, Jr., Contracting Officer, by email at southerland.john@epa.gov.
