- SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS (Not a Notice of Solicitation) The United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio is seeking potential sources to enter into a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the Medical Center for a blood culture system. The agreement will consist of these "Brand Name or Equal" cost per test supplies: • BacT/Alert 3D Control Module Starter Kit • BacT/Alert 3D Left Incubator Module • BacT/Alert 3D Benchtop Cart • BacT/Alert 3D Signature w/Observa The requirements which need to be met include: • Plastic Blood Culture Bottles (OSHA Compliance) • Colorimetric Technology • System can detect 98% of isolates within 72 hours • User-directed bottle loading • Visual and audible alarms, including remote alarm capability • Employ adaptor cap and insert so a phlebotomist can switch from drawing blood cultures to drawing tubes without re-sticking the patient or using a syringe • Technical Training Firms responding should specify their supplies/services which meet the requirements provided above. When submitting your capabilities package, please state whether or not you can meet this requirement and whether or not you take exception to any of the specifications. If you believe you can meet this requirement but take exception to any of the items listed above, please state these in your capabilities package with a brief description of why. Additionally, sales history including recent commercial companies serviced should be included to determine commerciality and quality of past performance. The Air Force anticipates awarding a sole source contract for this requirement. The proposed sole source is BioMerieux Inc., 100 Rodolphe St., Durham, NC 27712. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a Large or Small Business. If a Small Business, please list the type (i.e. 8(a), Small Disadvantaged, Total Small Business, Hubzone, Woman-Owned, SDVOSB). The general definition of a small business is one that is independently owned and operated, is not dominant in the field of operation in which it is proposing on Air Force contracts and with its affiliates; and the number of employees does not exceed 500 people. NAICS Code to be used for this acquisition is 339112. The Air Force reserves the right to consider a set-aside based upon responses hereto for any subsequent acquisition. Respondents are further requested to indicate their status as a Foreign-owned/Foreign-controlled firm and any contemplated use of foreign national employees on this effort. Any information submitted by respondents to this sources sought synopsis is voluntary. The Air Force does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Respondents should not construe this synopsis as a commitment by the Air Force for any purpose. All interested firms shall submit a capabilities package that explicitly demonstrates company capabilities and product/service specifications related to this effort.
