- THIS REQUEST IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN INVITATION FOR BIDS, A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, A SOLICITATION, A REQUEST FOR QUOTES, OR AN INDICATION THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTRACT FOR THE ITEMS CONTAINED IN THE RFI. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT REIMBURSE RESPONDENTS FOR ANY COST ASSOCIATED WITH SUBMISSION OF THE INFORMATION BEING REQUESTED OR REIMBURSE EXPENSES INCURRED TO INTERESTED PARTIES FOR RESPONSES TO THIS RFI. SEIWG 005C, 'Interface Specification (RF Data Transmission Interfaces) For DoD Base and Installation Physical Security Systems', was published by the Security Equipment Integration Working Group (SEIWG) on 20 October 2008. This document is based on SEIWG 005A which was published in October 1985 and updated with a two-page addendum, SEIWG 005B, in January 2006. The SEIWG has completed a draft version of SEIWG 005D and is soliciting any comments but with an emphasis on the following: Does the new stand! ard support typical physical security RF devices? Does it allow end users to capitalize on those capabilities while increasing interoperability and maintaining backwards compatibility? Does 005D adequately reflect current sensor technology? Do any backwards compatibility issues exist with draft 005D? Does 005D provide adequate direction? This information will help the SEIWG determine if the current draft of SEIWG 005D is ready and suitable for formal release or, if not, comments will help us identify areas for improvement. All responses to the RFI are requested by 11 March 2011. If possible, please enter comments into the Comment Resolution Matrix (CRM) that is provided under the 'Available Documents' section of this RFI. All RFI submissions should be e-mailed to: SEIWG@hanscom.af.mil. This RFI information will be synopsized on the Hanscom Electronic Resources Bulletin Board (HERBB) and FedBizOps web-site.
