Description
This Notice is published for informational purposes only and not as a request for competitive proposals. The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) intends to issue a sole source contract in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 to "Quality Engineering Associates, Inc." to purchase the QEA IAS-1000 Automated High Resolution Print Quality System that they manufacture to perform the critical security quality control for the electronic passports that GPO prints and manufactures for the Department of State (DOS) on highly specialized press and bindery equipment. With specific and unique capabilities, these particular presses are crucial elements in the print production process of the electronic passports for which the QEA IAS-1000 Automated High Resolution Print Quality System is designed to provide forensic level of examination which is vital for this high level of security of the product of the scanning of the passport. This requirement will be classified NAICS 335999. No solicitation document is available. Interested persons may respond to this requirement by 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, February 9, 2011. Send questions & comments regarding this requirement to: glrobertson@gpo.gov on or before February 9, 2011. The government will evaluate responses to determine if a competitive solicitation is appropriate for future acquisitions.
