- Correct Mechanical Deficiencies, Phase V, Project 534-09-106. Work replaces deteriorated induction unit two pipe system with reliable and efficient air conditioning units and modifies HVAC/interior finishes. Induction unit system replacement is necessary throughout the medical center. Work will include architectural layouts to make the areas more usable for the medical center. The demolition within the area or work consists of total removal of select interior walls, ceilings, doors, and floor finishes and all attached equipment. Also included is the removal of the existing induction unit equipment and associated slab patching as a result of said removal. Additionally, asbestos containing floor tiles and mastic are to be demolished in areas where present. New work will consist of the construction of new interior partitions and certain interior smoke resistive corridor walls, new doors, new floor finishes, new ceiling systems, and new air conditioning systems.. Work is to be completed in two phases. The Contractor shall complete the construction within 12 months of the notice to proceed. The estimated construction cost is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. Consideration is limited to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, and the solicitation will be issued using the Sealed Bid Process. The bids shall be hand delivered to the Main Auditorium, Room A139, on the first floor of the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401-5799. All bids must be received by March 4, 2011 at 1:30 PM Eastern time the day of the bid opening or anytime before the day of the official bid opening. Bids may also be mailed to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Ralph H. Johnson Medical Center, 109 Bee Street, Attn: Cassaundra Mulligan, Code S150B, Charleston, SC 29401-5799. If bids are not received by 1:30 PM Eastern time the day of the bid opening, they will be considered late. The NAICS CODE is 236220 and the Small Business Size Standard is $33.5 M. This notice is issued subject to the availability of funds and is not a request for proposal. The solicitation will be issued with this pre-solicitation notice on 2/4/2011. The bids are due on March 4, 2011. This solicitation number VA-247-11-IB-0066 replaces VA-247-11-RP-0035.
