- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Oracle USA of Redwood City, CA, for Sun Microsystems Software and Hardware Maintenance Service, to be used by the Office of Information Systems Management, at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland for a period of one (1) year. Sole Source determination is based on the need for continuous software maintenance service. Oracle is the copyright holder in providing the required maintenance and support of Sun Microsystems. NIST utilizes SUN hardware and operating Systems for its Commerce Business Systems (CBS), per directive from the Department of Commerce and within compliance of the NIST Technology Reference Model. The CBS was designed to run on the Sun Microsystems hardware and must be maintained until the system's end of life. Oracle is the only known vendor capable in providing the required software maintenance renewal. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 511210, and the size standard is $18M. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by February 10, 2011 will be considered by the Government.
