Description
The US ARMY ARDEC, Small Arms Technology Branch, Picatinny, NJ is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for a Mirage Mitigation Device (MMD). The device is required to wrap around the suppressor of the M110 Semi- Automatic Sniper System (SASS) and XM2010 (M24 upgrade) weapon systems. The device shall mitigate suppressor heat mirage effects that reduce the snipers ability to accurately resolve the target and wind speeds/direction down range. The device shall reduce the suppressors thermal signature. The device shall permit sniper suppressor handling and rapid egress minimizing bodily injury and burn damage to clothing and carrying packs. The device must survive in operational military environments in accordance with MIL-STD-810. The device must be a Non Developmental Item (NDI) or a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) item. Primary interest is in a device designed for use with no modification to the weapons configuration including the suppressor. However, information for products that require minimal modification may also be provided. The MMD shall not cause damage to the sniper weapon system or suppressor due to overheating or melting of the material. Firms/companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providing specifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and other technical data as well as identification of current customers and rough indication of pricing. Any pricing data should be sent, if available and at no cost to the US Government. Interested companies are requested to submit a capabilities statement of 2-5 pages via e-mail by 15 February, 2011. The Point of Contact is Kenneth Beatty at ken.beatty@us.army.mil. Interested firms should also provide their address, point-of-contact with telephone number and e-mail address, and size of business (small/large). This is a market survey for information only and shall not be construed as a request for a proposal or as an obligation on the part of the US Government. The US Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey.
