- Description
- The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS/BPH) provides reading material in Braille and recorded form (flexible-disc, recorded disc, and cassette) to United States residents, and to U.S. citizens overseas, who are unable to use conventional printed material because of physical limitations. Books produced by contractors for NLS/BPH are encoded in a digital format compliant with standards established by the Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) consortium. C.2. SCOPE OF WORK The vendor (the DAISY consortium) shall extend the current membership in the consortium at the Full Member Level for a period of twelve months. C.3. STATEMENT OF WORK: The Consortium shall provide Full Member Level membership in the DAISY Consortium and this membership shall include the following rights and privileges: C.3.1. Collaboration with disability communities and international organizations such as W3C, IFLA, WBU and WIPO; C.3.1.1. Influence in the ongoing development of the DAISY standard and DAISY open source tools; C.3.1.2 Participation at the Full Member Level in the Consortium's work toward equitable solutions to copyright and digital management issues; C.3.1.3 Networking and marketing opportunities with other internal members and external international organizations; C.3.1.4 Visibility via a listing of the organization at the DAISY web site in a directory of Full Member organizations; C.3.1.5 Access to a rapidly growing worldwide customer base of direct consumers, organizations, and companies; and... C.3.1.6 An opportunity to steer the development and implementation of DAISY standards.
