Description
Information is being collected for market survey purposes and not as a request for proposal or as an obligation on part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey and will not pay for information solicited. Please identify any proprietary information submitted. All information submitted will be retained as market research, and will not be released to the public or other producers. Please note that the government is seeking information from small business contractors that can provide demonstrated past experience with this or a similar item. Interested Parties - The Rock Island Contracting Center is seeking information concerning the M548 Metal Ammunition Box, NSN: 8140-00-739-0233. This is a water tight steel box painted inside and out, approximately 18 inches long, 14 1/2 inches tall and 7 1/4 inches wide, used to store/transport both small and medium caliber ammunition and other military items. It consists of a steel box and lid that is attached by quick release latches at both ends. The box and lid is seam welded so that the container is watertight when latched. The latches and handle components are fastened to the container by spot welds. All components are made of steel except for the synthetic rubber gasket utilized for sealing. After assembly the M548 is cleaned, primed, and painted. As noted above, the government is seeking information from small business contractors that can provide demonstrated past experience with this or a similar item. The information the Government is requesting is as follows: What is an economical production rate for M548 containers on a per month basis for an entire calendar year? What is the lowest yearly quantity which would still result in fair and reasonable prices being offered to the Government? For any current producers, what is the current monthly production? Participation in this effort is strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the Government. The Government will in no way be obligated to purchase all or any part of the item described above. Interested firms are requested to submit responses with clear and convincing documentation via email or fax to the point of contact below by close of business 24 Jan 2011. The point of contact is Mr. Randy Slusser at (309) 782-7954, e-mail randall.slusser@us.army.mil, fax (309) 782-2259
