- PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE ORDER General Information Document Type: Purchase Order Posted Date: 12/28/2010 Set Aside: N/A Contracting Office Address Department of Commerce, NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service, Auke Bay Laboratories, Ted Stevens Marine Research Institute, 17109 Pt. Lena Loop Rd, Juneau, AK 99801. Description The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) intends to issue a sole source award utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures TO Determine species composition and abundance of zooplankton species collected using zooplankton samplers during eastern Bering Sea surveys. Enter and convert data into Access database. Provide data in standard format to include station information along with species composition, abundance, and biomass. University of Alaska, Institute of Marine Science, has processed eastern Bering Sea zooplankton samples collected by the NOAA Auke Bay Laboratory from 2005 to 2009 and is a well respected facility in the biological oceanographic community with adequate laboratory facilities to provide high quality data to academic institutions and state and federal government. This contractor is the only one with a complete knowledge of the design and format of our zooplankton databases as they helped create them. Past experience with the UAF Institute of Marine Science has indicated that the lab possess the ability and experience to provide consistent, precise results in a timely manner. This means that our data will be consistent which is key. This notice of intent is for information purposes only, therefore, no solicitation will result from this announcement. All sources eligible to provide this supply must respond in writing, response must be supported by clear and convincing evidence to clearly be able to provide services for products outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered an affirmative response. If no responses are received, within 15 days after publication of this notice, to the effect that comparable services are available, and that it is more advantageous to the Government than obtaining these services through a sole-source contract, then a sole source acquisition award will be made.
