- Request for Information The U.S. Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center (NSRDEC), National Protection Center is seeking information on LIFE SAFETY ROPES used for emergency responder and law enforcement personnel. The FEMA Approved Equipment List (AEL) item number for this equipment is 03OE-05-ROPE. The requested information will be included in the Life Safety Ropes market research. By providing information in response to this RFI, you agree that the System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program may use both the equipment information and any provided images in SAVER outreach. Review of this information is being performed for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate. DHS established the System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program to conduct comparative assessments and validation activities that provide the emergency responder community with information on important products and services. All information received will be treated as public knowledge and may be used in SAVER Program documentation; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. The intent of this market research will be to provide the emergency response community with feedback on the commercially available Life Safety Ropes that can be used by Emergency Responders. The results of the market research will not yield a determination of what product is best, nor shall the NSRDEC NPC endorse any product or manufacturer. For items certified as compliant with NFPA 1983, specific information sought includes: 1. Company name and address. 2. Whether the company is a manufacturer or distributor. 3. Point of contact, telephone, fax, Web address, and e-mail address. 4. Product name and a brief description (75 words or less.) 5. Additional information such as durability, flexibility to tie knots, all available technical specifications, color options, flame resistance, and maintainability. 6. Cost information such as initial costs, General Services Administration (GSA) schedule information, and available warranties. Do not send your piece of equipment. The submitted information may be evaluated for potential consideration in planning future SAVER equipment assessments. If a future SAVER assessment on this type of equipment is executed, the equipment selection will be based upon a number of factors, including emergency responder surveys and responder focus group inputs. Consequently, follow-up requests for feedback should not be made through the FedBizOpps posting agency. Vendors may be contacted following submission for more detailed information. Vendor provided information may be reformatted for publication in SAVER Program documents. Submittals: Information about a particular brand/product should be submitted in electronic (MS Word) format by 4:00 pm EST on January 21, 2011 by e-mail to Darren Bean at darren.bean@us.army.mil.
