- Development of Enhanced Laboratory Capacity & Improved Biosafety Objective: To enhance laboratory capacity and biosafety in Thailand. Period: 1/15/10 - 5/27/10 Activities and Deliverables: 1. Coordinate development and implementation of a laboratory biosafety training workshop, including developing the scope and outline for the laboratory biosafety workshop and defining and engaging partners and participants. Share progress and model with IEIP/GDD/TUC counterparts for modification to address CDC regional office needs. This activity will require working with US CDC, WHO, AFRIMS and the biosafety network Thailand (BSNT). Deliverables: a) Agenda and plan for laboratory biosafety training workshop b) Training curriculum c) Workshop summary report 2. Organize and conduct biosafety association meeting in Thailand and develop a mini session with International Federations of Biosafety Associations (IFBA) for their conference in February 2011 in Bangkok (to strengthen BSNT as an association and to increase their interactions with Thailand MoPH). Deliverables: a) Biosafety association meeting agenda and plan b) Agenda/session outline for mini session for IFBA conference c) Summary report for mini-session for IFBA conference in February 2011 Laboratory assessments - follow up with MoPH and action items for laboratory strengthening under IHR - meet with working group to progress on recommendations of the assessment 3. Follow-up and advise MOPH on results of laboratory assessment conducted by WHO/CDC in November/December 2010, and recommended next steps for laboratory strengthening under IHR, including attending and participating in workgroup meetings to plan and monitor progress on recommendations of the assessment. Deliverables: a) Minutes of individual and working group minutes. b) Summary report on progress on recommendations of the assessment and contractors expert appraisal and recommendations for future planning. 4. Outline regional laboratory diagnostics training courses for future consideration. Deliverables: Completed outline of recommended training courses, including description, target audience, venue and dates for potential future trainings (if available) Performance Dates: This scope of work will commence on January 15, 2011 and continue through May 29, 2010. In that period of time, the contractor will engage in the preparation, implementation and review of the training workshop and mini-session/meeting, as well as manage the logistical matters related to this training. The training and meetings themselves are expected to be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
