Description
The attached print is the proposed south window crane area as described above. The following Amendment #5 responds to questions submitted during the 2'nd site visit held on November 30, 2010 as a result of a change in window access to the South window access. Added: <input type="hidden" name="dnf_class_values[procurement_notice][description][1][added_on]" value="2010-10-13 14:46:05">Oct 13, 2010 2:46 pm Modified: <input type="hidden" name="dnf_class_values[procurement_notice][description][1][modified_on]" value="2010-12-14 14:39:13">Dec 14, 2010 2:39 pm Track Changes AS A REMINDER OFFERORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMITTING AS PART OF THEIR TECHNICAL RESPONSE A PRELIMINARY DELIVERY PLAN (SEE SECTION L.9.4.2) AS A RESULT, IT IS THE OFFERORS RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE THE METHOD(S) THEY ARE TO USE TO INSTALL THE EQUIPMENT AND TO OUTLINE ANY AND ALL ASSUMPTIONS TAKEN IN REGARDS TO THEIR TECHNICAL APPROACH. FURTHER MORE, OFFERORS ARE REMINDED THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF ALL NUMBERS. THEREFORE, ALL NUMBERS BELOW ARE PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON AS BEING ACCURATE. OFFERORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONFIRMATION OF ALL DIMENSIONS Question 1: How wide is the paved alley in the area where the crane will be located (the distance from the front façade of the B Wing to the security wall bordering 14th Street.)? Response 1: The approximate distance between building and curb is 35'. Question 2: What is the distance from the front façade of the B Wing building to the beginning of the window of the proposed installation access area (the second window in on the South side of the B Wing)? Response 2: The approximate distance from the end of the building to the center of the second window is 38'-9". Question 3: What is the distance from the front façade of the B Wing building to the beginning of the window of the alternative installation access area (the third window in on the South side of the B Wing)? Response 3: Add approximately 14' - 6" to the answer question number 2 above. Question 4: Are the dimensions of the opening of the third window in on the South side of the B Wing the same as those for the second window in on the South side of the B Wing? Response 4: Yes. Question 5 What is the height of the bottom sill of the proposed access window in relation to the paved alley where the crane will be located? Response 5 : Approximately 56'. Question 6: What is the distance between the South wall of the B Wing and the North Wall of the A Wing? Response 6: There is a building (substation) between A-wing and B-wing. The approximate distance is 77'. Question 7: What are the dimensions of the structure between the South wall of the B Wing and the North Wall of the A Wing which the crane will need to reach over (need the height and width of the large wall of this structure which faces the paved alley)? Response 7: The approximate Width 55' - 6" - Height 30' Question 8: Can a diagram of the structure between the South wall of the B Wing and the North Wall of the A Wing be provided? It would be helpful if this diagram included portions of Wings A and B for perspective. Response 8: No,. Question 9: Will we be able to set the crane up, unload the trucks and place the units through the opening supplied by the BEP during regular working hours or will we be required to perform these services on the weekend? Response 9: Refer to Section F of the solicitation for requirements for Delivery instructions. Question 10: A longer boom and a bigger crane may be necessary. This prompts the question will a larger crane even be able to get down the alley. In the interest of effective cost savings could a visit be scheduled for the rigger to inspect the site for the new access location? Response 10: No additional site visit time is available. However, the area is viewable from the 14'th Street roadway between the BEP and the.Financial Management Systems office. No access to the grounds will be permitted. Please contact Don Baron at 202-874-3143 in order to arrange with Security before visiting. Question 11: With the new window access point, will existing internal lighting and support structure be removed to allow clear access through the entire window opening? Response 11: Yes. Question 12: Will there be additional onsite storage space other than the general area where the machine will be installed at? Response 12: There is no storage space available. However, offerors are to refer to Section F.4.2.7 of the solicitation regarding the amount of staging area available. Question13: What is the distance from the ground to the base of the 3rd floor window sill? Response 13: Approximately 56'. Question 14: What is the distance back from the front of the building to the front of the 2nd window access point? Response 14: The approximate distance from the end of the building to the center of the second window is 38'-9". Question 15: Is there any space available for offsite staging areas in the vicinity of the building for trucks and equipment during the delivery process? Response 15: During weekends/holidays the driveway south of A-wing may be available.
