Description
Market Research The Forest Service is looking for qualified vendors to preform the following service. This is only a sources sought. If you are qualified please email similar projects and contact names. The intent and purpose of this contract is to obtain professional services to develop a historic context and an evaluation of the National Register eligibility of ranger boats presently operated by the US Forest Service in Alaska. These include the Sitka Ranger, located in Sitka, Alaska and the Tongass Ranger, located in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Chugach Ranger, located in Petersburg, Alaska was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 and is to be included only in the historic context section of the report resulting from this contract. The Contractor will follow guidelines in Archeology and Historic Preservation: Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines (48 FR 44716, 1983, as amended) for work performed under this contract, particularly those sections relating to "Developing Historic Contexts," and "Application of the Criteria within a Historic Context." The Contractor will also find the following guidelines very useful: National Register Bulletin 20, "Nominating Historic Vessels and Shipwrecks to the National Register of Historic Places," published by the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, in 1992; and National Register Bulletin 16B, "How to Complete the National Register Multiple Property Documentation Form," published by the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, 1991. The Contractor will develop the historic context and documentation. The historical analysis will identify the theme, time period, and geographic limits for the historic context. It will summarize and synthesize existing information on the history of ranger boat use by the Forest Service in Alaska. It will identify and provide a summary discussion of the variety and types of vessels used by the Forest Service in Alaska, with particular attention to the existing ranger boats in use (or presently in storage) today, and which may be of historic significance. The historic context will provide sufficient documentation to serve as the basis for the Statement of Significance for any National Register of Historic Places evaluations and/or nominations dealing with ranger boats.
